A5 Family,
The National Championship Tournament(s) are upon us. This is where the rubber meets the road - the tournaments we have been preparing for since training began over six months ago. We're sending 35 teams to the AAU National Championships in Orlando, and a record 25 teams to the USAV National Championships in Detroit. Each team will set their own, realistic goals, and we have several teams in a position to medal if they play to their potential. I can't wait to see the teams in action.
A5 Family's Record Haul of Bids to Nationals Not Enough to Lead the Nation this Season
Each year your club leadership establishes goals for the club. We quantify those goals where possible. For example, rather than saying "provide every athlete in our system with a positive experience", we might add the descriptor, "as evidenced by at least 95% of the respondents to our survey indicating their experience has been good or excellent".
Other goals are more easily quantifiable. The number of athletes who go on to play in college; the number of Regional Championships; the End-of-Season Club National Ranking by Triple Crown Sports. ....and of course the subject of this article: Number of Bids Earned to USAV Nationals.
This year the Club earned 25 bids, bettering our record of 24 in 2016. A total of 13 bids were earned by all the other clubs in Georgia combined. More importantly, we wanted to let you know how we stack up against the best clubs in the Nation by that metric:
Certainly this is rare air within the volleyball community, and we hope that every coach, player and family member is proud to don the A5 uniform, tee shirt or jacket. That said, the ability to translate the bids into medals will go a long way in determining where we stand in the National pecking order of clubs. To all of our coaches and athletes: just have fun, enjoy the tournament and play your best, soaking in the experience of playing in a National Championship. Thousands upon thousands of girls would love to be in your shoes.
